Gabriel Crawford-Paree is a lifelong resident of Hamilton County, and has set down roots in Westfield. He is running for Westfield-Washington School Board At-Large in 2026. As a firm believer in public education, someone invested in the long term health of WWS for his future family, and problem-solving engineer he is the right person with a unique perspective not currently represented on the school board.
Why Crawford-Paree?
He was raised in Hamilton County, graduating from Fishers in 2016. His time in the HSE district mirrors the growing pains Westfield-Washington Schools are currently facing, so he has seen the impacts from the student side and brings that perspective to the school board. Being educated in the public school system also instilled a firm belief that everyone deserves a high quality public education.
Gabriel Crawford-Paree is an engineer, and brings with him an engineer’s mindset to problem solving. You don’t come in and solve a problem by being the person who had the right answer before you even got there, you solve problems by talking to stakeholders impacted and gathering information from people who know more than you about a given situation. He brings humility and level-headedness to challenging situations that is critical for arriving at the right solution, regardless of the issues faced.
He is deeply invested in Westfield-Washington Schools remaining high quality; the school system is part of what made Westfield attractive to settle down in. Him and his wife intend to start a family and educate them through the public school system, so on top of the fact that everyone benefits from high quality schools and well educated communities, he has a personal stake in keeping the schools great.
Why Run as a Democrat?
Senate bill 287 passed in 2025 by the Republican supermajority in the Indiana legislature added party affiliation as an option for school board elections. Prior to this, elections were entirely non-partisan. The goal of passing this legislation was to increase the likelihood of right-wing ideologies on school boards. Gabriel Crawford-Paree believes that the community deserves someone who is more interested in the quality of public education than banning books and rewriting history. The Republican party has regularly attacked public education, defunding it with voucher programs and directly going after schools including Micah Beckwith’s mocking of Westfield-Washington Schools band program. Gabriel is running as a Democrat not to bring partisanship to the school board but because the Republican party has unfortunately made support of public schools a partisan issue.
